Center For Brain Health in Dallas

Margarita Quihuis and Chris Bennett visited the Center For Brain Health at University of Texas at Dallas. The Center is doing groundbreaking work studying not only how to repair damaged and aging brains, but also improving the healthy brain for better cognition.

And speaking of groundbreaking, we could see construction work starting on the Brain Performance Institute next door. The BPI will be their epicenter for cognitive training, taking the world class research going on at the CBH and turning it into practical programs.

We had the opportunity to spend time with the Founder and Chief Dorector, Sandra Bond Chapman, PhD, and some of her key staff.

One key takeaway was from Dr. Lara Ashmore, Assistant Director – Technology and Innovation/VR Lab. She spoke about their Strategic Memory Advanced Reasoning Training (SMART).

Integrated Reasoning is a critical part of their training, which gives us the ability to:

Zoom in on the details
Zoom out to see the themes

Zoom deep
Zoom wide (how does it apply to my life?)

In short, Integrated Reasoning helps develop filters for taking in and sorting the vast amounts of information we are exposed to every day.

A great visit, and we are looking forward to the opening of the Brain Performance Institute in 2017.
